Today someone asked me "Why After Taps Adventures, what does it mean?" I forget often that not everyone understands military lingo and there is even some discrepancies between the branches. After twenty years of service sometimes I even forget what is military and what isn't.

Taps is the music played at the end of the day usually a bugle at dusk as the flag is lowered. Onboard US Navy ships at the end of the day (usually 2200) we pass an announcement over the PA system "Taps, Taps, Lights out. All hand turn into their rack and maintain silence about the decks. Taps." For me it symbolizes the end of something, it this case the end of the military chapter of my life. Now we are exploring what happens After Taps.

I have had a great military career. I have experience many wondrous things that often seem unreal to me. I know that is not always the case. I know that I am an exception to the rule. I have great respect for all of my Brothers and Sister in arms and I know not everyone has the same views on their service as i do. I can only speak from my experiences, and more often then not I only remember the positive side of things (much to the chagrin of Jen).

I will be using this platform as a way to catch up with many of my friends that I have made along the way. We will share some "sea stories" and catch up with where they are After Taps. I have had the great privilege of serving in the US Army and the US Navy, so we will hear a wide variety of tall tales, grueling trials and bond frivolity. All in and attempt to entertain and reconnect.

See you then: Taps, Taps. Lights Out.
